Surrey Canadian Baseball Association is a non-profit minor sport organization operating in the Guildford / Fleetwood area of Surrey. We are seeking a Program Leader for our Rally Cap Initiation Program.

Rally Cap is designed for T-Ball aged participants (ages 6-7), volunteer coaches, and parents. The program offers complete lesson plans and initiation drills that are a bonus for coaches and parents new to the game. Goals of the Rally Cap Program

  • Create an environment in which children and adults can have fun with baseball
  • Teach baseball skills, rules, and strategy to our players
  • Model and teach competitiveness with an emphasis on good sportsmanship
  • Promote increased self-esteem & structure among children and adults
  • In the Rally Cap baseball program, each team will consist of 6-8 players, meaning more teams are formed and more repetitions allow players to improve their different skills

The Program Leader will report to the Rally Cap Coordinator and will be the ‘point person’ for Rally Cap each program night / day. They will get the equipment out, set up the field, design the program plan, run the warm up for all 3 teams, teach baseball skills, rules and strategy, work with the parent volunteer coaches and ensure they are following the Rally Cap program plans while providing them with leadership and training. The Program Leader may umpire the games. The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm, with baseball skills and leadership skills, and will be able to connect effectively with younger kids and their parents.

The successful candidate will have completed grade 12, have a “can do attitude”, possess excellent communications and interpersonal skills and must have demonstrated leadership and program instruction ability. Current CPR and Emergency First Aid certification would be an asset, and the successful candidate will be required to submit to a Criminal Record Check.

Hours of Work (Minimum):

The Program Leader hours of work (based on 6 team league) will be up to:

  • Tuesdays from 5:45 – 7:45pm (Rally Cap 3 teams)
  • Thursdays from 5:45 – 7:45pm (Rally Cap 3 teams)
  • Saturdays from 9:45am – 1:45pm (Rally Cap 6 teams)

Season of Play: April 7 – June 15, 2019

Rate of Pay: Will be negotiated based on qualifications the candidate brings to the position.
