Thank you to Newton Canadian Baseball Association — still giving to Surrey baseball

Although we are saddened that Newton Canadian Baseball Association will not field teams in 2026, Surrey Canadian Baseball Association is deeply grateful for their generosity. As part of their dissolution, NCBA has donated thousands of dollars worth of baseball, field, and concession equipment to support our program.

On Saturday, November 23, SCBA volunteers arrived at Unwin Park with trucks and vehicles to collect the equipment. We were warmly welcomed by NCBA friends who allowed us to select items that will serve our youth athletes for years to come. While grateful, we felt the bittersweet reality of receiving these gifts due to the closure of a once‑strong organization. As we loaded baseballs, pitching machines, bases, scorebooks, wheelbarrows, and more, memories of Unwin Park and our cross‑town friends (and sometimes rivals) filled our minds.

On behalf of SCBA, we thank NCBA and all those who dedicated themselves to serving kids and families for 73 years. We will steward this equipment well, and we hope many Newton families will continue their baseball journey with us at Lionel Courchene and Holly Park in the coming years.
