As a follow up to the notice for Peewee AAA Summer Ball Player Assessments / Tryouts….

Summer Ball Player Assessments / Tryouts for all other Surrey and Newton Peewee baseball players will take place June 8 & 9 at both Lionel Courchene Park and Unwin Park.  All Peewee players who are interested in playing summer ball must attend one of these sessions.

Saturday, June 8 from 6-8pm. at Lionel Courchene Park (Peewee diamond)

Sunday, June 9 from 6-8pm. at Unwin Park (Peewee diamond)

These are scheduled during the evening expecting that Spring AA and A playoff games will be taking place on the same weekend and that all teams will likely be in action earlier on both these dates.   All players can choose the night that works best for their baseball or family schedule.  It is expected that every interested player will attend one of the sessions; if you are unable to do so, please contact Kellie Simicak (Newton) or Alan McKearney (Surrey).  Please bring all equipment you will require to the assessment.  Catchers should bring their own gear.  Any Spring BC Minor player who did not play for Surrey or Newton in the Spring would require BC Minor permission to attend.

Based on the interest and ability that is on display these two nights, the two organizations will make the decision to offer either of the following two options for the summer season:

Option 1       Offer a fully merged Peewee AA Surrey/Newton team and a fully merged Peewee A Surrey/Newton team. (2 teams requiring approx. 22 total players)

Option 2       Offer a fully merged Peewee AA Surrey/Newton team and Peewee A teams at both Surrey and Newton.  (3 teams requiring approx. 33 total players)

The two organizations are confirming coaches for both of these options – for 2 total teams or 3 total teams.

Confirmed as coaches for the Peewee AA team are David Leavers (Surrey) and Andrew James (Newton).  All other coaches will be ‘in place’ by the dates of these sessions and are asked to attend both sessions if possible.
