Rally Cap 2019

We are excited that your child is registered for the 2019 Surrey Canadian Baseball Association ‘Rally Cap’ program.  We will be getting underway the following two weekends with Spring Training pre-season clinics.

Saturdays March 23 and March 30

9:00-10:00am     All players with surnames between A-J
10:00-11:00am   All players with surnames between K-Z

These two, one-hour sessions will introduce all the kids to the game of baseball and some of the skills each will need to play Rally Cap this season.  The sessions will take place in the Batting Cage facility at Lionel Courchene Park.  The Batting Cage is the big blue building in the middle of the park.

Please have all the kids wear comfortable clothes, running shoes (no cleats allowed in the facility), a baseball hat and a jock / jill protector.  Each player should bring a glove, and a batting helmet and bat if you have them.  Each child will need their own batting helmet for the season but the league provides each team with a number of bats.  So please don’t feel a need to purchase a bat for your daughter/son.

After the Spring Training clinics, all registered players will be placed on teams of 5-7 players per team.  Each team will select a team name. A Program Coordinator (paid position) will provide the leadership for the program on a week-to-week basis.   Each team can expect to play 2 sessions per week – either Tuesday or Thursday + Saturdays.  We will be looking for parent assistance with all of the teams, so please let Brandee Morrill know at 7u@surreycanadian.com if you are willing to help out with your daughter/son’s team.  Also please let Brandee know if there are specific children/families you wish to be part of the same team by March 30.

On Sunday, April 7 @ 11:00am, all Rally Cap teams will march out onto the field as part of Surrey Canadian’s Opening Ceremony.  Please mark your calendars for this fun day when all the kids can connect with the entire organization.  So there is lots to do in the next 3 weeks to be ready for the new season that starts on Saturday, April 13.

For any parents that want to understand the program better, Surrey Canadian models its program after the Baseball Canada Rally Cap program.  You can watch a video and read all about it at https://baseball.ca/rally-cap-initiation-program

We hope everyone is ready to ‘Play Ball’!
