These house rules and the differences for eash division are intended to supplement and / or highlight the Official Rules of Baseball. A copy of the Rule Books is necessary to fully understand the game. Copies will be available for purchase at the concessions, while quantities last.
General Rules

SCBA shall be governed by rules in the following priority:

BC Minor Baseball Association Rules second,

Canadian Federation of Amateur Baseball Rules third.

All coaches, managers, players and umpires are to refrain from the following:
-
Smoking within the boundaries of the park.
-
-
Conflict with parents, fans or umpires.
-
Deliberately attempting to demoralize any opposing player or team.
-
-
Abusive use of equipment.
-
Bringing alcoholic beverages to the park. Penalty - Ejection from game and / or park. All ejections will be reviewed for further disciplinary action.

No protests are allowed in T- Ball, Tadpole or Mosquito (i.e. - games will not be replayed due to incorrect rule interpretation). Complaints must be presented to the League Executive Committee in writing, within 72 hours of the incident, or they will not be considered.

It is the coaches responsibility to display and promote good sportsmanship and behaviour of the team and their parents at all times.

T-Ball, Tadpole and Mosquito coaches must ensure:
-
All players are on the field for at least 3 complete innings per game.
-
No player may sit out more than one inning before all other players on the team have sat out one inning.
-
Each player plays a minimum of one inning per game in the infield.
-
Peewee, Bantam and Midget coaches must ensure that all players are on the field for at least 3 complete innings per game.

Must ensure that all players are wearing athletic supporters.
-
Coaches must remain in their dugout or outside the fence when their team is in the field.
-
Mosquito, Peewee, Bantam and Midget coaches must wear uniform shirts when occupying the base coaching boxes.

Ensure that home team scorekeeper records pitching records and game scores on the Game Record form.

Must appear in full, clean uniforms at all games. Uniforms are not to be worn to practises.

Must wear athletic supporters, or they will not be allowed to play in the game.

Must wear double ear flap helmets with chin straps , when batting and baserunning.
-
Must wear helmet, mask with throat protector, shin guards and chest protector when acting as catcher.

Must remain in the dugout when not taking an active part in the game.
-
Must ensure that all equipment not actually in use is kept off the playing field (i.e. - bats, catchers equipment, etc.).

It is recommended that shoes with moulded rubber cleats be used by all players. Running shoes and soccer shoes will be permitted. Metal cleats are permitted in Bantam and Midget divisions only.

Are frequently children, and most are learning how to Umpire. They deserve the respect and cooperation of all coaches, players and parents.

Once the game has started the Umpire will have complete charge of the game, and all his decisions on judgement plays will be FINAL. Any person who questions an Umpire''s judgement call shall be ejected from the game.

Coaches may approach an Umpire to clarify rule interpretations only.
-
Shall check that the catcher is wearing an athletic protector the first time the player catches in the game.
-
All ejections are to be reported to the Umpire in Chief and further suspension may result after review by the Disciplinary Committee.

Points will be awarded as follows: Win ... 3 points; Tie ... 2 points; Participation ... 1 point
-
Points for rained out games will be calculated according to percentage of points earned for all games actually played.

No new inning may start after 8:00 pm during month of April.

Time Limits are in effect for the entire season. No new innings may start in each division as follows:
- T-Ball- 1 hour and 45 minutes after start of game
- Tadpole- 2 hours and 15 minutes after start of game
- Mosquito- 2 hours and 15 minutes after start of game
- Pee Wee, Bantam, Midget- Per Interlock rules (2 hours, 30 minutes)

SLIDE or AVOID rule is in effect in all Divisions, and is at the Umpires discretion - all decisions will be final.
It is MANDATORY for all baserunners to slide or make an effort to avoid a collision at all bases and home plate. Failure to do so will result in an automatic out, and ejection from the game if flagrant.
If the baserunner is required to evade a defensive player who is blocking a base or the baseline, while not receiving or holding the ball, the runner will be awarded that base (obstruction).

Head First Slides No head first slides are allowed in Peewee, Mosquito, Tadpole or T-Ball. Diving back to a base on a pick off attempt will be allowed.

Catchers: If a catcher reaches base safely after 2 are out, a substitute runner - the last previous out - may be entered into the game so as to allow the catcher to get equipment back on, hence speeding up the game. This is an option, not compulsory.

Playoffs: If teams are tied in points for standings for league play, the following tie breaking criteria will apply in the order shown:

Team with most victories in regular season league play.

Team with the most victories in games between tied teams.
-
Team with the least cumulative runs scored against them in games between tied teams.

Calling up Lower Division Players: Players may be called up to replace regular players who are absent for that game, under the following conditions:

Maximum 3 games played up per season per player. Penalty - for fourth game up, the game will be forfeited.

The players Coach''s permission is required.

The Lower Division Commissioner must be notified, to ensure that the player is eligible to play up.
-
The player must not pitch.
-
The player must receive the same treatment as regular players, and must not play more innings than regular team players.
-
Younger players may be called up to make a maximum of ten players on the roster for a game.

Player eligibility:
An underage player may play in one age division higher at the discretion oif the Commissioner, and subject to the approval of BC Minor Baseball Association, provided the player demonstrates an exceptional level of physical ability and behavioural skills, similar to the norm of senior players in that division.
Note that the player will not be permitted to participate in post season play in the lower Division.
Any player may be suspended from the league for consistent behavoural deficiencies, at the discretion of the Commissioner. Registration fees will be refunded on a pro-rated basis
